This house was known as the original Hazard home. The 2000 sq ft of original house is approximately 147 yrs old with the addition of 1300 sq ft is approximately 15-20 yrs old. The basement is the original field stone with a cistern. I have a Sani-Dri 100 pt. dehumidifier the keeps the humidity to 45 – 50% so we are able to use the basement for storage. Electrical and plumbing were installed approximately 20 - 30 years ago so it has already been updated. The house is in amazing condition with newer windows, updated kitchen, Jotul wood stove, new forced air furnace, central air, satellite and DSL. The house has multiple closets; all have the unique character of an old farm house. The rooms and closets are uncharacteristically large for a house this old. The ceilings are 8 feet, most rooms have ceiling fans including the front porch. There is a den off of the living room; we were told that it was originally a bedroom. We now use it for the family office and the built in book shelves for the book collection. There are two stair cases that lead up stairs, one to each side of the house. In the middle of the upstairs, there is a sitting/sewing room that has been also used as a fifth bedroom. We have used it as a nursery for our two kids but it can serve multiple functions. Most of the house has the original 6” wood floors.
